If I was a smaller team I think I'd sit this race out. It was designed as a qualifying race to get into the 500. But only 40 cars made a qualifying run on Sunday so everybody's already in. What's the point of wrecking a car for a non points race. All you're racing for is pit stall selection.

As of last year the duels are points races now. Pretty sure NASCAR only did that because they could forsee low entry counts coming

Wow I missed that. Top 10 in each race earn points. You learn something everyday.

Maybe they should (have) go (gone) that way for the entire season when they decided to spoot-can the Latford system.

Not that it matters now :D

So now you gain points before an actual race occurs.

Only in NASCAR!

Actually, a lot of short tracks award points for heat races.

I think its probably mostly tradition... nothing wrong with it and the racing give the drivers a chance to see if their tune up works... good for all!!

The 125 qualifiers are strictly for medicinal purposes only. Everyone is ready for a racing fix.
