Post subject:  Tuesday 10/31 Halloween

High of 54, all sun, no rain, decent weather for all the little trick-or-treaters.

Happy Halloween, peeps. I was thinking back to the Halloweens of my youth (yes, quite a few decades ago), and I'm shocked at how much things have changed. When I was a kid, my parents sent me out in a homemade costume, carrying a sack to put my goodies in, and my friends and I went to almost every house, 2-3 blocks in every direction, whether we knew the people or not. And we came home loaded with candy, and didn't have to go to an "Urgent Care" or hospital to get our treats x-rayed for razor blades or somesuch. When my kids were younger, us parents would take turns chaperoning a gaggle of kids to selected houses with porch lights on, or where we knew the residents. Still no x-rays needed. When the house goalie was younger, an adult always accompanied him and his friends, and they only went to neighbors' houses where we knew the residents, and then we drove to other relatives' houses. And then we searched through the loot looking for things we might want to dispose of, rather than take a chance that an apple or other treat was tampered with. And now medical facilities will x-ray those "treats" for free.

WTF is the matter with this world?

Happy Halloween!

Agreed....

It has taken all the fun out of this holiday....quite frankly, don't care if we do this or not - the kids are going to Safe Halloween and then that is it
