Just wanted to let everyone know everything is going to change Dec 18th

All trucks on the road will be required to run a electronic logging device. The mandate is being put in with safety as the reason. This is not true the mandate will make the roads less safe.

The real reason for the mandate is for the large carriers to try and put the small carriers out of business. Large carriers receive about $10K in Gov welfare per person they put in a truck. They hire anyone to get the welfare including the immigrants who can't speak or read English. They give them a months training and a GPS and a ELD and send them out in a 40 ton killing machine. The ATA is the voice of the mega carriers. They don't represent the small carriers. If you notice when Trump met with the so called trucking industry it was a truck with ATA on the side he was climbing into. When Trump had the news conference about his tax plan it was the ATA who had their banners as a back drop.

Swift Transportation the nations largest carrier has had 64 fatalities and 2296 injury accidents in the past 2 years. It's only going to get worse.

85% of the trucks on the road are owned by companies with less then 20 trucks with many being single truck owners like myself.

We are fighting everyday to get this mandate stopped before Dec 18th. The mandate will cost a estimated 2 billion dollars to implement. Trump said if elected he was for getting rid of senseless regulations. He is ignoring this one. We sent him 20 million tweets in the last 2 weeks and all were ignored. This was all started under the Obama Admin. and Trump is just like the Obama Admin. all for big business and ignore the little guy.

We have a representative from Texas that is fighting on the Hill for us. Rep. Brian Babin has put in a resolution to delay the mandate 2 years. HR-3282 now has 65 cosponsors.

If you want safe roads do what you can to get your state representatives to support HR-3282.

Do your Christmas shopping early because I would guess their are going to be alot of empty shelves after Dec 18th if this isn't stopped.

They had a truck accident last weekend with a driverless truck, they said it was the other guys fault, how ever, if there were a human in the truck, maybe an evasive move might have saved the day.... no Democrats here homie...

PS. Aren't the ELD stock on all newer trucks?

Driverless trucks are a long way off. There isn't a truck that can fuel itself, check in at shippers/receivers, open the doors (dry van and reefer), tarp and strap a load (flatbed), etc.

No ELD's don't come on new trucks. No ELD's are certified, it is a self certification by the maker. There are 100's of makers of them. Most of them are coming from Indonesia.

There is no way I am plugging something that is not certified into the computer on my truck. The University of Michigan has already hacked into one remotely and shut the truck down. If terrorists hacked into them they could shut the braking system off and with them coming from Indonesia who knows. If the thieves hacked into one they could track you within 10' and know when you are home or away. They are all blue tooth.

They are hooked directly into your computer on your truck. When your truck moves over 5mph it automatically puts you driving on your log. You have 14hrs to drive 11hrs per day. Say in the morning you drive 1hr to where you are unloading. You sit in a dock door 4hrs getting unloaded. (not uncommon) then you drive 2hrs to get loaded and sit in that dock for 5hrs getting loaded. (not uncommon) You get a load that goes 300 miles and they give you 6hrs to deliver it. You only have 2hrs left in your day and you are screwed and you only drove 3hrs for the day 180 miles if you are lucky.180 miles x .34 = $61.20 for 12hrs $5.10hr WOOOHOOO

The big carriers will have drop trailers everywhere and they will go in and drop the loaded trailer and pick up a empty and be gone in 15 minutes. That is why the big carriers are pushing the mandate because they know it will break all the small carriers and they will have the monopoly. Then they can hire all the immigrants and the Gov gives them $10K for everyone they hire. They put them in their school and give them a CDL and sent them out in a 40 ton killing machine and pay them .25 a mile. They have them locked up for 2 years because if they quit in the first 2 years they owe $10K for their schooling. It's modern day slave labor. Anytime they come close to their house they send them in the opposite direction and their nothing the driver can do because if they quit or get fired they owe the $10K.

Technology to fuel and implement data transfers without human participation already exists. Lower paid manual workers can preform the other tasks. The ATA will lead the movement for driverless acceptance.

Technology exists for a lot of things. The federal government regulates a lot of it to death with political thuggery.
